The 6-day window that changes everything

According to the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, your fertile window spans the 6 days ending on ovulation day.1 This is because sperm can survive in the reproductive tract for up to 5 days, while an egg lives for only 12-24 hours after ovulation.2

Peak fertility: Research shows the highest pregnancy rates occur when intercourse happens 1-2 days before ovulation—not on ovulation day itself.1

For the best chances of conception, ASRM recommends having intercourse every 1-2 days during your fertile window. The good news? You don't need perfect timing—intercourse 2-3 times per week throughout your cycle achieves nearly equivalent results.1

When should you see a fertility doctor?

Most couples conceive within a year, but knowing when to seek help is important.

<35

Under 35 years old

Consider evaluation after 12 months of trying to conceive with regular, unprotected intercourse.2,3

35+

Ages 35-40

Seek evaluation after 6 months of trying. Fertility declines more rapidly after 35, so earlier evaluation is recommended.1

40+

Over 40 years old

Talk to a reproductive specialist immediately when you're ready to conceive. More immediate evaluation and treatment may be warranted.2

⚠️

Known risk factors

Seek evaluation sooner if you have irregular cycles, history of pelvic infections, endometriosis, PCOS, or if your partner has known fertility issues. Male factor is involved in 40-50% of infertility cases.3
